  18. "ScreenStyle" is a Word for Windows 6.0 template created specifically for the needs of screenwriters. Version 4.0 includes convenient new macros, a toolbar, and other flourishes.

ScreenStyle conforms to the specifications outlined in "The Complete Guide to Standard Script Formats -- Part I: The Screenplay" written by Hillis Cole, Jr. and Judith H. Haag. These specifications include margins, tab settings, and capitalization requirements. Many automated features are included that make this a welcome alternative to dedicated screenwriting programs such as "Scriptor".

ScreenStyle is a Word for Windows 6.0 template. Therefore, all of its features are available only under that version of the program. If compatibility with WinWord versions 1.0 or 2.0 is needed, or with any version of Word for Macintosh, contact the author at address "ECLoverde" and he will provide an appropriate copy of ScreenStyle.

To install the software, the ScreenStyle template ("SCRENSTY.DOT") should be copied into the "TEMPLATE" directory inside the WINWORD directory on the user's hard disk. Once WinWord 6 is running, the user may then choose "New..." from the "FILE" menu and choose "scrensty" from the dialogue box that appears. Instructions for using ScreenStyle will then appear.

If "scrensty" is not listed in the dialogue box that appears when the user chooses "New..." from the "FILE" menu, then Microsoft Word may be looking in the wrong place for the ScreenStyle template. Choose "Options..." from the "TOOLS" menu. In the dialogue box that appears, click on the tab labeled "File Locations". On the list that appears, highlight "File Locations", then click on "Modify...". A dialogue box will appear. Navigate by pointing and clicking inside the "TEMPLATE" directory inside the "WINWORD" directory, then click on "Use Selected Directory". Click on "Close". "scrensty" should now appear in the dialogue box that appears when "New..." is selected from the "FILE" menu.
